Waves of Knowing is a six-week project that tackles sewage pollution in Swansea’s River Tawe through both affirmative and disruptive design strategies. Targeting children and parents, it introduces Litmus Stations interactive testing points that use biodegradable pH strips to check water safety and promote behavioral change.
As a disruptive outcome, custom Litmus Swimwear changes color in response to acidic or alkaline contamination, revealing real-time environmental risks. Grounded in research, observation, and material exploration, the project blends design, science, and user interaction to raise awareness and empower safer swimming decisions.
These images showcase hypothetical scenarios of both outcomes, visualizing how children and families might engage with the Litmus Stations and experience the color-reactive swimwear in real-world conditions.
